In our role, we have increasingly new opportunities to expand and reinforce our importance in the following critical areas:

  • Data Generation: Addressing research questions in modern medical affairs
  • Data Dissemination: Addressing seminal trends in providing data to all stakeholders
  • Data Interpretation/Translation: Addressing opportunities and challenges for optimizing communication and engagement with specific audiences

Strengthening Medical Affairs Impact for Improved Patient Outcomes: Building Our Future Together

Achieving a Borderless, Unified Scientific Voice

Anna Walz, CEO, MedEvoke describes a workshop she delivered at MAPS Miami on “Global Alignment in an Era of Complex Therapeutic Portfolios: Is it Possible to Achieve a Borderless, Unified, Scientific Voice?” where she discussed with participants some of the challenges associated with Medical Affairs as the hub of scientific communications relative to product. This complex scientific communications challenge coupled with the unique regulatory and cultural differences between regions can make alignment across a global medical affairs organization seem impossible. This workshop presented a real-world success story and then invite participants to share their experiences and best-practices associated with developing, organizing, and distributing complex, layered scientific narratives in a global Medical Affairs setting.

Joseph Kohles on the Interaction and Value Transfer of Knowledge at MAPS Miami

Joseph Kohles, Chief Medical Officer, Envision Pharma Group on the level of interaction at MAPS Miami and the learning opportunity for solutions providers to understand the needs of Medical Affairs.

Pamela Spence on Unlocking the Power of Data

08:50-09:20Keynote Address: Precision Health 4.0

In this keynote, Pamela Spence, EY’s Global Life Sciences Industry Leader, outlines how platform business models that seamlessly and precisely combine products and services to deliver better health outcomes are central to creating and capturing value in today’s dynamic landscape. Spence will explain how the emergence of holistic platforms of care create opportunities to promote greater customer-centricity, improved access to care, and a far clearer picture of health and disease than ever before. To remain relevant in this new era of decision medicine, traditional life sciences companies must rebalance their commercial organizations and rethink the role Medical Affairs has traditionally played, shifting from product-centric messaging to predictive and personalized support, especially for older and sicker individuals.

Via the experience of a senior-level interdisciplinary panel, which includes keynote speaker Pamela Spence, this session will explore our new reality and highlight the unique opportunities we have to contribute to our organizations and the patients we serve.
