New FDA draft guidances on medical drug and device communications

On January 18, 2017, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released a statement from FDA Commissioner Robert Califf, MD, announcing two new draft guidances on medical product communications. The purpose of these draft guidances is to help provide clarity for stakeholders on FDA’s current thinking and recommendations for various types of communications about medical products. Formal publication of the guidances is January 19, 2017.
